Manchester United had a fairly active summer transfer window that saw them sign five players.
At the back the Red Devils brought in Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia, whilst Christian Eriksen and Casemiro have bolstered what was a very weak midfield.
Further forward, meanwhile, Erik ten Hag sought the services of former player Antony, who has signed from Ajax for a mammoth fee.
All told it was a fairly decent window from Manchester United. They finally signed a defensive midfielder, improved their defence and added some much-needed depth on the flanks.
However, it appears a number of other names could have also joined Manchester United during the 2022 summer transfer window.
Writing for Caught Offside, Fabrizio Romano has detailed how 15 players were offered to United in just one week:
“What happened next? Honestly, more than 15 players were offered to Man United that week. Memphis Depay on a free transfer was one, Leandro Paredes was discussed, Weston McKennie was offered as well. “While the Antony deal was still in doubt, Yannick Carrasco was offered, and Christian Pulisic was discussed. At right-back, Sergino Dest and Thomas Meunier were also options. “Still, there was no panic from United, they decided to wait and only go for top players. In the end, they got Casemiro and Antony – their patience paid off. They were calm in a difficult moment and for now it looks like it was the right approach.”
