Match preview

Minnesota United’s form has suddenly deserted them at just the wrong time.

Last time out, the Loons were shambolic again, this time hammered 4-1 at Children’s Mercy Park by Sporting Kansas City.

So, since looking nailed on to reach the play-offs, Adrian Heath’s side have failed to win any of their last five, losing four of them.

They do remain in the final Western Conference play-off spot, but needing points, with RSL in hot pursuit.

San Jose Earthquakes’ aim is simply to avoid being bottom of the west come the end of decision day next weekend.

The Quakes hosted LA Galaxy in the Cali Clásico last weekend, but found themselves 3-0 down at Stanford Stadium.

Alex Covelo’s team are winless in four but, back at PayPal Park, will fancy their chances of further denting Minnesota’s post-season ambitions.
