Arsenal lost to Everton in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off.

This meant Man City could temporarily close the gap on the Gunners to just two points.

However, the Sky Blues fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Lilywhites, leaving Arsenal with a five-point lead and a game in hand.

Now, speaking after yet another defeat at Tottenham’s ground, Guardiola admitted chasing down Arsenal is not currently the priority as he looks to find an answer to the questions his players are struggling to answer:

“We are not in the position to think about being champions,” Guardiola told Sky Sports.

“The position is the next game, Aston Villa. We have one week, going to prepare well, and we’re going to play our game as best as possible.

“In the last times we’ve come, we monopolised the game, found the spaces and create chances, but we lose. They have a lot of quality and they don’t need much in transition and set pieces.

“I give a lot of credit to them. I don’t say we cannot lose against them – I have the feeling all the time the same. It’s difficult.”
