Xabi Alonso can bank on another talented attacking player in the senior side at Bayer Leverkusen this summer after the Bundesliga mainstay has officially announced the signing of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface from Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
The 22-year-old former Fotballklubben Bodø/Glimt striker only spent one season in the Jupiler Pro League with Les Unionistes but left his mark in Brussels under the guidance of Karel Geraerts after finishing as the joint-leading scorer in the Europa League while helping the club continue on its fairytale path.

Having faced off against his new employers during the Europa League quarterfinals last season across both legs of a 5-2 aggregate loss, Boniface had done more than enough to convince Alonso as well as Die Werkself sporting director Simon Rolfes to add him into the attacking fold at the BayArena.
In a deal that sees USG receive €20m for a prized asset, Leverkusen has added Boniface on the back of key striker Patrick Schick being laid up in dry dock until at least October on account of a groin injury according to lead Bundesliga commentator for ESPN, Derek Rae.
Apart from Schick and the added Boniface, Alonso certainly boasts considerable firepower at his disposal in North Rhein-Westphalia irrespective of the upcoming departure of star winger Moussa Diaby to Aston Villa, with the likes of Florian Wirtz, Adam Hlozek, Jonas Hofmann, Amine Adli, and the recently promoted Ayman Aourir all occupying the forward areas.
