The sale stands as a tidy profit for Bayern, who secured Nianzou on a free transfer in the summer of 2020 after the Paris native was allowed to walk out of his boyhood club as an 18-year-old, with Bayern also adding in a buy-back option into their negotiations with Sevilla, speaking to the notion that the club still feel he has the potential to develop into a player they would like to see back at the Allianz Arena in the future.
Nianzou will be on a five-year deal with the Andalusian side, with considerably match time looking likely to come his way after the departures of Diego Carlos and Jules Koundé to Aston Villa and Barcelona respectively, with Los Nervionenses boasting just two natural center-backs – Marcão, and Karim Rekik -before the completed deal.
Development will be the order of the day for Nianzou in Seville at a club that has a historic track record of young players progressing smartly under their guidance, with the aforementioned Koundé arriving at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán at the same age (20) before spending three highly successful seasons in southern Spain.
As for Bayern, Julian Nagelsmann’s outfit now remain short-staffed in the heart of the defense with Nianzou’s departure, after German international Niklas Süle swapped Bavaria for the Ruhr valley when he joined rivals Borussia Dortmund earlier in the window.
