Arsenal have been handed a massive boost as both Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale are closing in on new deals to reward their fine form this season.
The Gunners, who currently sit second in the Premier League, have seen their young talent spearhead a title charge this season, with Aaron Ramsdale having pulled off several impressive performances and Bukayo Saka among the best wingers in the top flight this campaign.
Both are set to be rewarded for their form, with Ramsdale set to pen fresh terms despite having a contract that runs until 2025 in order to be better paid for his role in the side.
Saka’s renewal, meanwhile, will come as a massive boost to the Gunners, with rumours of both Manchester City and Liverpool taking an interest in the Englishman, who has grabbed 13 goals and 11 assists this season.
The Telegraph report that ‘Arteta wants to retain a young British core, with Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale both close to agreeing new contracts’, which will add to their young talents tied down following the extension of Gabriel Martinelli’s contract earlier in the season.
There are still question marks over impressive defender William Saliba, who has not played since March through injury, however.
‘We want to keep our best talent. Especially the players that deserve some recognition,’ Arteta said. ‘I think he has been incredible since he came back from his loan period and we want to reward him, that is for sure. We will find the right moment to do that.’
‘Obviously (sporting director) Edu and the board are on top of every negotiation regarding new contracts and now we are doing everything we possibly can to do that in the right moment at the right time,’ Arteta added.
‘The communication and the relationship is super. It is about timing, I think. Nothing else.’
