Premier League giants Arsenal are close to agreeing to the terms of a new contract with a headline member of the club’s midfield ranks.
The player in question? Martin Odegaard.
Norwegian international Odegaard, of course, is fresh off another fine start to the new campaign.
Continuing to act as lead creative presence in Mikel Arteta’s side, the former Real Madrid man has managed two goals in four Premier League appearances to date.
Beyond his exploits in the final third, though, Odegaard has emerged as as a leader both on and off the pitch, too, thriving with the added responsibility of the captain’s armband.

In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of the powers that be on the red half of north London working hard to tie the club’s skipper down for the long-term.
‘Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is in advanced talks over a new contract. Skipper Odegaard’s current deal expires at the end of next season and the Gunners have made the midfielder’s future a top priority.’
The discussions in question are understood to be based around the terms of a four-year deal, featuring a considerable increase on Odegaard’s current £120,000-per-week wages.
