The 29-year-old former RB Leipzig standout failed to truly make an impression in Bavaria across a two-year stint at the Allianz Arena, which included a half-season loan at Manchester United in 2022-23 before the Red Devils refused to make the move permanent this summer.
Dortmund reportedly parted ways with €20m plus add-ons for the Wels-born versatile midfielder as part of retooling operations at the Westfalenstadion which has seen Die Schwarzgelben also complete moves for VfL Wolfsburg’s Felix Nmecha and Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Ramy Bensebaini.
After missing out on a first Bundesliga title in over a decade last season after Bayern Munich secured their eleventh consecutive league win, Terzić and club sporting director Sebastian Kehl are on the hunt for adding further quality into the senior side in a bid to set the record straight in 2023-24.
At the time of writing, Sabitzer has made 185 appearances in the top flight of German football while scoring 34 goals along the way but has forever etched himself in the fabric of RB Leipzig as one of the chief catalysts on the pitch that saw the club promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in its history.
