Southcoast outfit Bournemouth continues to smartly tap into continental markets to source talent for the senior squad at Vitality Stadium after the Cherries completed a deal for Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Romain Favre.
The 24-year-old is coming off a brilliant second half of the 2022-23 Ligue 1 season with FC Lorient after first failing to make a name for himself in the Rhône Valley in the wake of a pair of breakout seasons with Stade Brestois.
Bournemouth sign Romain Favre, deal done — told medical will take place on Wednesday, then he will join Lorient on loan. Here we go 🍒🇫🇷
Total package of €15m, no add ons.

The Cherries, who are now under the command of highly-touted Spanish tactician Andoni Iraola, look to continue their recent brilliant navigation of European markets by spending just €15m (~£13m) on the Tours FC academy product, but are set to ship him back to Lorient for the 2023-24 Ligue 1 campaign due to the club’s ownership state in the Breton-based outfit.
Bournemouth’s interest in Favre dates back to nearly two months ago when they first earmarked the player for possible recruitment, just months after the club did so well to bring in Lorient winger Dango Ouattara.
Favre represents the third summer deal for the Cherries, who already spent a combined ~£32m on Sassuolo’s Hamed Traore in the wake of his loan spell at the club last season, as well as former Ajax academy starlet Justin Kluivert, son of Dutch footballing icon Patrick Kluivert.
