Arsenal are interested in hijacking Tottenham’s move for Torino defender Perr Schuurs, according to reports coming out of Italy.
Schuurs is thought to be one of Tottenham’s top transfer targets for the remainder of the transfer window, with the Lilywhites still on the hunt for defensive additions.
Speaking about signings last week, Postecoglu explained:
“It’s not just bringing players in for the sake of it. They have to fit the profile we’re looking at. We’ve purposefully gone a bit younger because we want to build a team here. It’s not about putting the finishing touches on something, we’re building something here. So that’s the mind of profiles we’re looking at.”
To that end, they had identified Schuurs as a potential addition, with the 23-year-old set to leave Torino just 12 months after arriving.
However, they aren’t the only ones, and they could lose out on him to north London rivals Arsenal, who are in the market for a replacement for summer signing Jurrien Timber after the Dutchman suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury on the opening day of the Premier League season.
They are not alone in their interest, with Liverpool also having been credited with an interest in the defender, who is under contract in Turin until 2026.
Interest from three of the top six Premier League sides could see a bidding war break out for his services in the final week of the transfer window, and the Torino man is certainly one to keep an eye on between now and the September 1st deadline.
