Southcoast overachievers Brighton continue to put faith in the club’s recruitment remit in recent seasons after Roberto De Zerbi’s Seagulls have agreed to terms for one of Romania’s brightest young talents, Adrian Mazilu.

The 17-year-old U21 winger has rapidly risen through the ranks on the domestic front at Liga I outfit FCV Farul Constanța under Romanian footballing legend and current club manager Gheorghe Hagi.

According to football insider Fabrizio Romano, Brighton and Farul have agreed to terms that will see the budding forward move to the AMEX in January, with negotiations set to be concluded in the immediate future.

Mazilu is coming off a breakout 2022-23 season where he featured on nineteen occasions for Farul in the Romanian top flight, scoring six goals in the process.

The club academy product and Constanța-born player has featured at all youth international levels between U15 and U21 within the last three seasons, which included appearances this summer at the U21 Euros.

It is yet another example of Brighton’s commitment to scouring all corners of the globe for under-the-radar talent that has seen them acquire and develop players the likes of Kaoru Mitoma, Moisés Caicedo, Alexis Mac Allister, Julio Enciso, Facundo Buonanotte, Simon Adingra, and Jeremy Sarmiento.
