The powers that be at Burnley are advancing in negotiations over a move for an out-of-favour member of the midfield setup at Premier League rivals Arsenal, according to reports.
The player in question? Sambi Lokonga.
Youngster Lokonga, of course, has seen the subject of his future take its place centre stage in the transfer headlines on the red half of north London across the summer to date.
This comes with the Gunners having already added to their engine room ranks courtesy of the record-breaking signing of Declan Rice, and understood to be on the lookout for further reinforcements, too.
With Lokonga also sitting behind the likes of Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny and Jorginho in Mikel Arteta’s pecking order, the Belgian has in turn been tipped for a fresh Emirates departure.
And, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then this move could come in the form of a 2nd successive Premier League loan.
And his efforts at Selhurst Park, evidently, proved sufficient to catch the eye of fellow countryman Vincent Kompany.
As per a report from Belgian transfer insider Sacha Tavolieri, the aforementioned Burnley are in ‘advanced talks’ to bring the 23-year-old to Turf Moor.
The transfer is expected to come in the form of a season-long loan, featuring an option to buy which would become an obligation under certain appearance-based conditions.
