Any and all suitors of Manchester City star ilkay Gundogan have, on Thursday, been afforded a potentially considerable boost.
The subject of Gundogan’s future, of course, has taken its place centre stage in the headlines on the blue half of Manchester for several months now.
This comes with the German international, fresh off playing an absolutely integral role in City’s historic treble, yet to commit his future to the Sky Blues.
His current terms are due to come to an end in just two weeks’ time, with the long-standing efforts of the Etihad hierarchy to thrash out a new contract having thus far proven fruitless.
Both Premier League rivals Arsenal, and La Liga champions Barcelona, meanwhile, are continuing to circle, hopeful of Gundogan ultimately coming to the decision to call time on his stint with Pep Guardiola’s side.
And, if the latest word stemming from City themselves is anything to go by, then the former Borussia Dortmund man, it would appear, is inching ever closer to an exit.
