The haphazard nature of Chelsea’s ongoing assault on the transfer market since the previous summer looks set to continue in earnest after the Blues have reportedly agreed to personal terms surrounding their latest pending transfer, Nicolas Jackson.
A 21-year-old Gambian-born Senegalese international, Jackson topped Villarreal’s goalscoring charts during the 2022-23 La Liga season with twelve goals in just ~1600-minutes of action in what was a breakout season for the young forward, prompting interest to emerge from multiple clubs across Europe.

Chelsea has won the race for his signature, however, with The Athletic’s David Ornstein reporting that Jackson intends to move to Stamford Bridge after coming to terms with the capital club ahead of a deal that may reach his €35m release clause should the Spanish side not a agree to a lesser figure.
Equally capable through the middle as well as on the right flank, Jackon’s pending arrival may still cause some to scratch their heads in the wake of other business conducted by the club.
Albanian youngster Armando Broja is still on the books at the Bridge (though he may be one of many the club intend to sell this summer), while David Datro Fofana was purchased six months ago. Additionally, the club is expected to be the next port of call for French international Christopher Nkunku, adding his name to forward options that also currently include Noni Madueke, Raheem Sterling, and Mykhaylo Mudryk.
As rumors persist that the Blues could also be after a more established number 9 to lead the forward line next season under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, it remains to be seen what the next step forward is for a Chelsea side that, still, seems to be stockpiling players with little direction at current.
