Arsenal are reportedly ready to quadruple the wages of young star Bukayo Saka as they look to ward off interest from other Champions League clubs this summer, according to reports.

Saka has been a shining light for the Gunners this season, having netted 10 times in the Premier League and helping spearhead a young Arsenal side’s push for European football next season.

According to David Ornstein, of the Athletic, an initial conversation [about a new contract] has now taken place, during which the possibility of an improved deal at the Emirates Stadium was discussed.’

However, it is not just money that will be a major issue, with Champions League football also a key consideration. ‘Factors such as the financial package and whether or not Mikel Arteta’s men achieve Champions League football are likely to have a bearing on the process’, claims Ornstein.

Money talks?

Despite this, money certainly helps in most cases, and Saka’s may be no different as the Mirror claim that Arsenal are ready to quadruple his wages if he pens a new deal with the club, with his current earnings a “measly” (in football terms at least) £30,000 per week.

‘Head of football operations Richard Garlick, will take control of discussions and has been told not to waste time or haggle with Saka or his team’, report the Mirror.

Having come through the Arsenal youth academy, Saka staying with the Gunners would be a massive show of faith in the project that they are currently trying to pull off.
