According to Footballtransfers, Gabriel Jesus has expressed his dissatisfaction with the English media as he feels that he is not receiving the credit he deserves for his performances.
It is added that Jesus believes that his contributions have been overlooked and he feels disrespected – believing pundits, media outlets, and even a section of Arsenal’s own fans have been unfairly critical.
Jesus joined Arsenal from Manchester City last summer. Despite playing second-fiddle to Sergio Aguero or being used out wide in a false-nine by Pep Guardiola for much of his City career, Mikel Arteta tasked the South American with leading the line for Arsenal during the 2022/23 season.
Jesus scored 11 and assisted seven in 26 Premier League outings last term, missing a good chunk of the campaign due to an injury he picked up at the 2022 World Cup with Brazil.
Even without the injury, though, it is hard to imagine Jesus scoring over 20 league goals in one season. And if the Gunners are to compete at the highest level, they probably need a striker who can do that.
However, based on the players Arsenal have been linked with this summer, Jesus looks set to lead the line for the north Londoners once more in 2023/24.
