Match preview

Two sides who have enjoyed very promising starts to the season come up against each other on Saturday, with both managers keen to extend their unbeaten runs into four matches.

For Graham Potter and the Seagulls it has been a case of steady progress after a best-ever Premier League campaign last year, and after a win over Manchester United and drawing with Newcastle, they produced a fine display to see off West Ham 2-0 at the London Stadium last week to hint at further fortunes this season.

Leandro Trossard has once again been a creative force for Brighton and scored in the win in London, and with a club high of nine shots in three games is sure to be a man Leeds will be forced to keep an eye on as they look to reverse a trend which sees them without a win against their opponents since 2017 – and without an away win in eight.

Both sides will be forced to assess their squads after midweek ties in the Carabao Cup – against Forest Green Rovers and Barnsley respectively – with Potter predicted to heavily rotate his side and bring youngsters into the line-up as they prepare for the visit of the Peacocks.

For Jesse Marsch, he will be desperate to maintain the momentum of beating Chelsea 3-0 at Elland Road on Sunday, and a trip to the south coast could be one of the trickiest ties to face at such a time.

Leeds fans know they have an unfavourable record against the Seagulls, but after the way they swatted aside the Blues they will be confident of putting in another strong performance and strengthening their credentials for a top-half finish in the league, even at this early stage.
