As reported by Fabrizio Romano on Thursday, Manchester United have agreed a £60m fee with Chelsea for Mason Mount.
Personal terms have been agreed for a while so an official announcement is likely to arrive in the coming days.
Mount was a Chelsea servant since a child, and whilst it is believed that Mount actually wanted to stay at the club, he was unhappy with certain issues including his low salary, and with Chelsea apparently unwilling to bend in that regard, it left the England international no other choice than to leave the club of his life.
Now, According to the Evening Standard, Celta Vigo’s young superstar, Gabri Veiga, who has a release clause of €34.6m, is being targeted to replace Mount in Chelsea’s XI.
Veiga scored 11 goals for Celta Vigo last season despite being a central midfielder and his superb form across the 2022/23 campaign even earned him high praise from Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez. Barca are thought to hold an interest in Veiga, but their financial issues likely give Chelsea the advantage in any race.
