Premier League giants Chelsea have seen a big-money proposal for a key defensive target knocked back on Monday, according to reports.
The stopper in question? Josko Gvardiol.
It is of course widespread knowledge that, with just days remaining until the summer transfer window slams shut, Thomas Tuchel and co. remain on the lookout for fresh blood at centre-half.
This comes despite new owner Todd Boehly having already sanctioned swoops for both Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly, and soon-to-be Pensioner Wesley Fofana.

Evidently, though, with Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger having moved on, and speculation continuing to swirl surrounding the future of Trevoh Chalobah, the powers that be at Stamford Bridge remain unsatisfied with the options at the heart of the club’s defence.
And such concerns, as alluded to above, are today understood to have seen Chelsea table an eye-watering proposal for a long-standing target.
Evidently keen to hold onto the club’s defensive jewel for at least one more season, though, the board at the Red Bull Arena, it is claimed, knocked the bid back without a 2nd thought.
