Match preview

After two contrasting performances under Sean Dyche, what will Everton produce this time?

A fortnight ago, Dyche landed on Merseyside with a bang, masterminding a 1-0 win over then league-leaders Arsenal.

However, on Monday night, the Toffees were very flat, swatted aide by Liverpool at Anfield in the derby.

So, the Blues remain in the relegation zone, but would end the day 16th with a victory.

That’s because, one of the teams Everton would leapfrog are Leeds United.

Unlike their hosts, the Yorkshire club have not been able to find a new manager since sacking Jesse Marsch 12 days ago.

This means the Whites have won just two of their last 19 Premier League matches, and it doesn’t take a brainbox to realise that, if this form continues, they’re heading down.

Leeds have won just one of their last 15 visits to Goodison, last leaving victorious in the league with fans present in 1990.

So, can Everton make home advantage count in this relegation six-pointer?

Everton team news

Sean Dyche made just one change from the Arsenal win to the Liverpool defeat and this was enforced, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin out injured.

Ellis Simms, who’s recently been on loan at Hearts and then Sunderland, was given the unenviable task of leading the line on his own.

Here, surely Neal Maupay, who’s only scored once since arriving from Brighton, will get the nod this time.

Aside from that, the XI is likely to remain unchanged; Séamus Coleman broke the deadlock when Leeds last visited Goodison almost exactly a year ago.

Predicted XI (4-5-1): Pickford; Coleman, Tarkowski, Coady, Mykolenko; Doucouré, Gana Gueye, Onana, Iwobi, McNeil; Maupay.

Leeds United team news

Michael Skubala is without top-scorer Rodrigo, so club-record signing Georginio Rutter could lead the line, displacing Patrick Bamford.

Luis Sinisterra, the scorer when Everton visited Elland Road, is a doubt, meaning Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto are set to keep their places on the flanks.

With Marc Roca sidelined, Weston McKennie will continue alongside USA teammate Tyler Adams in midfield.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Meslier; Ayling, Koch, Wöber, Firpo; McKennie, Adams, Summerville, Harrison, Gnonto; Rutter.
