Premier League giants Chelsea have reached an ‘agreement in principle’ over the signing of a key member of the defensive setup at Ligue 1 outfit Monaco, according to reports.
The player in question? Axel Disasi.
Stopper Disasi, for his part, is fresh off another fine season in his home country of France.
Solidifying ever further his immovable presence at the heart of Monaco’s backline, the 25-year-old featured from the off in all but one of the Monegasques’ Ligue 1 outings.
Defensive efforts aside, Disasi also put his talents in the attacking third on show, racking up a combined nine goal contributions across all competitions.

And such endeavours, evidently, did not go at all unnoticed across the continent.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media on Sunday is anything to go by, then the French international appears to be bound for another of English football’s biggest clubs.
As per a report from transfer expert David Ornstein of The Athletic:
‘Chelsea have reached an agreement in principle with AS Monaco to sign defender Axel Disasi.’
The deal, it is understood, has been struck for a fee in the region of €45 million, with Disasi primed to reunite with former Monaco teammate Benoit Badiashile in west London.
This of course comes with Chelsea having been forced back into the market for defensive reinforcements, on the back of the latest long-term injury picked up by Wesley Fofana.
