Arsenal Team News

  • Out: William Saliba, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Mohamed Elneny
  • Doubt: N/A

Despite their 4-1 humbling at the hands of Manchester City in midweek, Premier League table-toppers Arsenal still control their own destiny during the bookend of the 2022-23 season. Mikel Arteta’s young Gunners have stuttered in recent weeks while letting Pep Guardiola’s Citizens close the points gap which may ultimately see the league holders leapfrog the unexpected pace-setters, but Arsenal can still push to the end if they win out their remaining fixtures. That test starts Tuesday against foundering big-spenders Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.

There may be changes expected to Arteta’s XI after the club has failed to secure three points in any of their previous four league outings, but what has not changed is the availability surrounding star center-back William Saliba as well as Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mohamed Elneny. Questions will be asked on whether the likes of Thomas Partey and Rob Holding will be dropped after recent performances. Belgian international Leandro Trossard’s influence was missed against City, and many have called for Arteta to find a way to include him into the team, which may even come down to him being selected over Gabriel Jesus.
