Match preview

Will Fulham’s record-breaking season continue?

Last weekend, the Cottagers won again, this time enjoying a smash-and-grab victory over Brighton, with Manor Solomon scoring in the final minute of normal time at the Amex.

So, since the World Cup, Marco Silva’s side have won six of nine matches, leaving them sixth in the table.

Fulham’s best-ever top-flight finish, to date, is seventh, achieved in 2009 under Roy Hodgson, the season before they reached the Europa League Final.

With almost two-thirds of the campaign gone, the Whites are well on course to smash that club record.

Wolverhampton Wanderers meanwhile arrive in West London 15th, having seen a massive upturn in form since Julen Lopetegui’s appointment.

However, they did suffer an undeniable set-back on Saturday, beaten 1-0 by relegation-rivals Bournemouth at Molineux.

Nevertheless, Wolves remain three points clear of the bottom three, and would leapfrog Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest and Leicester with a win in this Friday night clash.

So, can Wolves record back-to-back top-flight wins at Craven Cottage for the first time in 61 years?

Fulham team news

Talismanic centre-forward Aleksandar Mitrović missed last weekend’s win at Brighton due to an ankle injury, and isn’t likely to be fit for this one either.

So, as was the case in Sussex by the Sea, Bobby Decordova-Reid could lead the line, chosen over Carlos Vinícius, with Harry Wilson coming in out-wide.

Combative midfielder João Palhinha is one yellow card away from a two-game suspension; their next two fixtures are against rivals Brentford and league-leaders Arsenal.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Tete, Diop, Ream, Robinson; Palhinha, Reed, Pereira, Wilson, Willian; Decordova-Reid.

Wolverhampton Wanderers team news

Mario Lemina will return to midfield, probably in place of João Moutinho, after serving his one-match ban against Bournemouth.

Bueno got the nod at left-back last weekend, but Rayan Aït-Nouri could return for this one.

No centre-forward has scored a Premier League goal for Wolves since Hwang Hee-chan (currently injured) netted in a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal exactly one year ago today!

Matheus Cunha will be the man tasked with changing that, seeking his first for the club since arriving from Atlético Madrid.

As well as Hwang, Pedro Neto and Saša Kalajdžić are also out long-term.

In better news, Daniel Podence is fit again, so could return out-wide, displacing Adama Traoré, the scorer of a stoppage time winner when Wolves last visited Craven Cottage during lockdown.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): José Sá; Semedo, Dawson, Kilman, Aït-Nouri; Lemina, Neves, Nunes; Sarabia, Podence, Cunha.
