Arsenal Team News

  • Out: Takehiro Tomiyasu, Mohamed Elneny
  • Doubt: Eddie Nketiah, William Saliba

Mikel Arteta will feel somewhat hard done after Arsenal failed to secure another statement result last weekend against Liverpool at Anfield, with the Gunners blowing a 2-0 lead while taking just a point from Merseyside in a 2-2 final with Jürgen Klopp’s struggling Reds. Many Arsenal supporters feel that result could swing the pendulum in Manchester City’s favor during the title race, but the reality is that Anfield remains a very difficult place to go and find a result, and Arsenal can still find positives in the draw that can be put forth at this weekend when they travel across the capital to lock horns with West Ham United.

Davie Moyes’ men are just three points from safety but have taken points in four of their last six league outings, and could provide a sterner test than some may be prepared for. For the task at hand, Arsenal remains without Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mohamed Elneny but is boosted by the eventual returns of Eddie Nketiah and William Saliba. Nketiah could make the bench on Sunday after returning to training, while Saliba continues to recover from a back injury and is likely a long way off from featuring given the club’s desire to protect one of their star talents.
