The player in question is Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Liverpool will be looking to pick themselves up a bargain with the 28-year-old out of contract next summer and thus likely available for less than he would normally be.
Milinkovic-Savic joined current team Lazio in 2015 from Belgian outfit Genk for €12m.
He has since featured over 300 times for the Italian outfit. In said games he has scored 64 goals and provided 59 assists, including 6 goals and 8 assists so far this term.
Lazio are reportedly ready to sell the Serbia international midfielder to Liverpool if they receive a transfer fee of €50m (£44m).
Juventus are also interested in Milinkovic-Savic, but their recent financial issues should be enough to give Liverpool the edge.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito president told Il Messaggero in November 2022: “Guess how much he’s worth – he scored a goal at the World Cup with his ankle injured, and he’s the best midfielder in the world.”
