Leicester City will welcome Manchester United to the King Power Stadium this weekend with the club set to target their first win of the Premier League season just as Erik ten Hag’s men face huge questions on the road once more.
The Dutchman has so far turned things around after a horrendous start saw them lose twice, concede six goals and score just one through an own goal. Now, however, the memorable first win over Liverpool since 2018 in the league and a narrow victory against Southampton keep ten Hag in with a shout of bringing the fans on board in the early stages of his United career.
Bruno Fernandes was the difference against Southampton with the vice-captain netting a magical team goal from a sweet first-time volley after Diogo Dalot’s excellent cross. United are now on six points, and with another tough test on the road, this could be the game we see Casemiro line up from the start and with it, perhaps a new era at the 20-times champions of England.
Leicester, however, remain winless in the league and have nothing but a penalty shootout win over League Two’s Stockport County in the EFL Cup to shout about early on in their 2022/23 season. The Foxes did manage to lead against Southampton two weeks back, but a brace from Che Adams snatched all three points from Leicester, while a Raheem Sterling brace ended all hopes at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
United are the narrow favourites in this one, but it is arguably a tougher test than the one faced at St Mary’s, simply because Brendan Rodgers cannot afford to lose here.
