Championship outfit Coventry City are on the verge of closing a deal for an up-and-coming member of the attacking setup at Everton, according to reports.
The player in question? Ellis Simms.
For those not aware, frontman Simms actually spent the first half of this past season out on loan in The Championship, with Sunderland.
So impressive did his ensuing form prove at the Stadium of Light, however, that the powers that be back at Goodison Park ultimately came to the decision to bring the 22-year-old back to the club in January.
Simms, from here, managed just a solitary goal from his 11 appearances in Everton colours, though, with the Toffees brass, in turn, having opened the door to a permanent summer departure.
And, as alluded to above, precisely that now appears to be on the cards.
The former Manchester City talent will make the move to England’s west Midlands as a direct replacement for Viktor Gyokeres, primed to take his goalscoring talents to Portugal, with Sporting CP.
Simms’ Coventry medical, it is understood, has been pencilled in for Friday.
Coventry are set to sign Ellis Simms on permanent deal from Everton for £8m fee, confirmed — while Sporting are at final stages of Gyökeres deal. 🔵🤝🏻
