The player in question is Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Arsenal will be looking to pick themselves up a bargain with the 28-year-old out of contract next summer and thus likely available for less than he would normally be.
Milinkovic-Savic joined current team Lazio in 2015 from Belgian outfit Genk for €12m.
He has since featured over 300 times for the Italian outfit. In said games he has scored 65 goals and provided 59 assists, including 7 goals and 8 assists so far this term.
Milinkovic-Savic has also previously been dubbed the best midfielder in the world.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito president told Il Messaggero in November 2022: “Guess how much he’s worth – he scored a goal at the World Cup with his ankle injured, and he’s the best midfielder in the world.”
It is added that the midfielder will be a free agent in the summer of 2024 and Lazio are looking to agree on a new deal with him. However, the player’s representatives believe that a renewal is unlikely to happen.
The Italian outfit will not want to lose the 28-year-old on a free transfer at the end of next season and a fee of around €40m could be enough to prise the midfielder away from the Serie A.
