As 101 covered last week, Jonny Evans has signed a short-term deal with Manchester United that enables Evans to take part in Man United’s pre-season games.
No further information was given on the length of the deal or if it means Manchester United will use Evans in the 2023/24 campaign when it kicks off next month.
Evans was initially offered the chance to play against Lyon in Edinburgh and again pulled on the club’s colours for the loss to Wrexham in San Diego.
The 35-year-old did not play in the defeat to Real Madrid. But he has been kept on alongside striker Jordan Hugill for the rest of their time in America.
United’s next outing will see them meet Borussia Dortmund at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas during the early hours of Monday morning.
Ahead of this game, Erik ten Hag has provided an insight into Manchester United keeping hold of Evans:
“As you see, Fred is not here and also [Anthony] Elanga went back. We need the numbers for proper training to hit our targets and that’s the reason they are here.”
