Dutch giants Ajax have added a former Arsenal fan favorite and Hale End academy graduate this summer after Middlesbrough ace Chuba Akpom officially completed his move to Amsterdam.

Per news relayed by Fabrizio Romano, Akpom is on his way to Johan Cruyff Arena in a deal that will see Boro net £10m plus £1.5 in add-ons for the 27-year-old striker.

Once viewed as a star for the future, Chuba Akpom never made his name in North London with Arsenal after graduating from the club’s vaunted academy setup.

Akpom spent five years in a series of loan spells across the English football pyramid as well as with Belgian side Sint-Truidense before he ultimately had a credible stint in Greece with PAOK, finally landing him a leading role at the Riverside Stadium with fantastic results.

The London native topped the goalscoring charts in the Championship last term to the tune of 28 goals, but perhaps no one could have ever assumed that a gargantuan move to one of the most heralded clubs on the planet would be the next step as he enters his prime years on the pitch.

With just Brian Brobbey as the only center-forward under manager Maurice Steijn, Akpom will not only possibly be receiving Europa League football with De Godenzonen, but there is a real chance he could lead the line ahead of Brobbey.
