Aston Villa Team News

  • Out: Diego Carlos, Philippe Coutinho, Jed Steer
  • Doubt: Robin Olsen

Unai Emery will lament the continued absence of club summer signing Diego Carlos as the Brazilian defender remains ruled out after recovering from his long-term Achilles injury suffered early in the season. His return to full training is encouraging, however.

Philippe Coutinho is also laid up in dry dock and could well be out until after the upcoming international break after sustaining a muscle injury. Jed Steer is also still sidelined, while Robin Olsen could be available but has no chance of starting ahead of Emi Martínez.

Aston Villa did well to end their three-match losing run with a 2-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park, but consecutive losses at Villa Park must be rectified at the weekend against a Crystal Palace outfit that has not picked up three points in their last six league fixtures.
