La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have released a statement late on Thursday, in response to the despicable behavior of a section of the club’s supporters ahead of the fast-approaching Madrid Derby.
For those not aware, ongoings in Spain’s capital have taken their place front and centre in the media headlines in the country across the day to date.
This comes after Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. was targeted in nothing short of disgusting fashion in the city.
On a bridge close to Los Blancos’ training ground, a doll wearing a Vinicius jersey was hung, alongside a message of ‘Madrid hates Real’.
This comes as Real and Atletico prepare to lock horns once more, in a Copa del Rey showdown on Thursday night.

As alluded to above, though, ahead of the Santiago Bernabeu clash getting underway, Atleti have moved to swiftly and completely condemn the actions of their fanbase.
“Such acts are absolutely repugnant and unacceptable and shame society. Our condemnation of any act that attacks the dignity of people or institutions is absolute and without exception.
“The utmost rivalry exists between both clubs, but also respect. No individual, whatever their intentions, can damage the relationship between different supporters. It is everyone’s responsibility to avoid this.
“We do not know the author or authors of this despicable act, but their anonymity does not mean they avoid responsibility. We hope the authorities are able to clear up what happened.”
Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and LaLiga have condemned an incident in which a doll wearing a Vinicius Junior shirt was hung from a bridge near his club’s training ground.
The incident occurred ahead of Thursday’s derby between the two clubs.
