Premier League outfit Fulham have seen a long-proposed deal for a key attacking target definitively collapse ahead of the transfer deadline.

The player set to miss out on a move to Craven Cottage over the coming 24 hours? Justin Kluivert.

Those of a Cottagers persuasion, of course, will be well aware of their side’s interest in the signature of wide-man Kluivert.

This comes after the Dutchman, son of famed striker Patrick, was added to the wishlist of Marco Silva and co, amid ongoing efforts to reinforce the club’s first-team ranks with a view to securing top-flight survival come the end of the campaign.

A deal with AS Roma, in turn, was widely reported to have been on the verge of completion, with Kluivert primed to make the move to west London on a permanent basis for a fee of around €9.5 million.

As alluded to above, though, at the last, Fulham’s hopes of adding further to their ever-improving attacking ranks have been stopped dead in their tracks.

Owing to a lack of recent appearances for parent club Roma, the 23-year-old wide-man failed to meet the criteria laid out in the FA’s transfer rulebook, with the move, as a result, definitively off.
