Herbert Hainer sheds light on additional motivations surrounding interest in Harry Kane

The 29-year-old Tottenham star looks to be heading toward the exit row in North London this summer after refusing to come to the negotiating table surrounding a new deal until the conclusion of the transfer window, with Bayern said to be in the lead for his services.

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has opened up surrounding persistent interest in England star Harry Kane and why other factors could be a chief reason why the Bavarian giants remain hopeful of securing a deal for the services of the record goalscorer.

According to the latest referenced reports from Bavarian Football Works: “The latest reports in the Harry Kane transfer saga seem to suggest that Bayern Munich is getting set to submit a third and much-improved offer to Tottenham to try to sign their talisman this summer. They’re reportedly ready to offer Kane a five-year contract that would see him earn roughly €20m/year and an upfront transfer fee of close to £100m, which is what Daniel Levy has been waiting for in his reluctance to sell his club’s star man.”

With Kane still reportedly open to leaving Tottenham this summer and Bayern the likely destination should he make that decision, Hainer spoke on a different aspect of the situation surrounding the club and international record goalscorer; star power.

In quotes provided by Kicker’s Georg Holzner, Kane’s stature in the European game would offer Bayern, and the Bundesliga on the whole, something they currently lack.

“I think the Bundesliga doesn’t have that many international stars anymore. That contributes to how the Bundesliga is marketed internationally. FC Bayern always tries to get international stars to make us and the Bundesliga better. Harry Kane is definitely a highly attractive player, England national team captain, top scorer. He would be good for us and the Bundesliga.”

After the departures of both Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland in the same summer by example, as well as both Christopher Nkunku and Dominik Szoboszlai departing RB Leipzig in recent weeks, the smattering of international stars that populate the top flight of German football certainly is lacking in comparison to the Premier League, La Liga, and even Ligue 1 and Serie A.
