Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez has, on Saturday, spoken out over surprise suggestions that midfield starlet Gavi could soon depart the club.
For those who may have missed it, the name of Spanish international Gavi has taken its place front and centre in the media headlines across Europe over the week to date.
This comes amid shock rumours that the 18-year-old is ready to consider an exit from the Camp Nou, having been left disenchanted with the Barcelona powers that be.
Big-spending Premier League strugglers Chelsea, in turn, are understood to be keen to take advantage of the situation, ahead of a summer approach for his services.
Gavi isn’t happy with Barcelona for the way they have handled the contract situation after he was stripped of the No 6 shirt, and made to go back to the No 30. Chelsea expressed their desire to sign Gavi and to stress how important a role he would be going forward. (Mail) pic.twitter.com/mTBbt9TEVQ

Speaking to the media on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Gavi’s potential departure was put to none other than his manager.
Xavi, however, was understandably quick to play the subject down.
