Spanish giants Barcelona have, on Friday, confirmed a fresh injury blow amongst the club’s first-team ranks.

For those who may have missed it, the subject of personnel woes has taken its place front and centre in the headlines at the Camp Nou over the course of the last 24 hours.

This comes after the first round of European Championship qualifiers of the international break culminated in Andreas Christensen being ruled out for an expected three to four weeks, owing to a calf complaint.

And now, just a day later, the Blaugrana have seen a 2nd key member of the club’s ranks struck down with injury.

On this occasion, the casualty is Frenkie de Jong.

Expected to feature from the off, midfielder De Jong, this afternoon, was ruled out of the Netherlands’ crunch showdown with France at the Stade de France.

And the release proved an altogether concerning one, with De Jong looking set for an incoming spell on the sidelines, having suffered a ‘right hamstring injury’.

Ensuing reports in Spain have already gone as far as to suggest that the former Ajax standout has been ruled out of the Catalans’ upcoming Copa del Rey semi-final 2nd-leg meeting with Clasico rivals Real Madrid, joining the aforementioned Christensen, Ousmane Dembele and Pedri on the treatment table at the Camp Nou.
