A fresh update on the plans of Premier League giants Chelsea for the club’s latest signing has been provided on Sunday.
The player in question? Lesley Ugochukwu.
This, of course, comes ahead of an imminent announcement surrounding the young midfielder’s arrival at Stamford Bridge.
For those who may have missed it, fresh off seeing a 4th big-money proposal for Brighton & Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo rejected, the transfer team at Chelsea, on Saturday, swooped in decisive fashion for fellow engine room target Ugochukwu.
A deal worth a fee in the region of €28 million is understood to have been agreed with Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais, with the 19-year-old having already undergone a medical with his new club.

So, what next for Ugochukwu?
And, as per Adam Leventhal of The Athletic, the Blues’ stars will soon be joined by their newest teammate:
‘Rennes midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu is heading to the United States to join up with Chelsea on their pre-season tour.’
From here, the youngster’s readiness to contribute over the season ahead will be assessed by Mauricio Pochettino and his staff, with Ugochukwu either set to stay put at Stamford Bridge, or return to France for a year-long loan with Strasbourg.
