As part of the deal, Udinese would receive Inter academy graduate Giovanni Fabbian in exchange, with the club inserting a buy-back clause into the agreement.
The Berlin-born international and former Fritz Walter Medal (U17 Bronze) recipient first came through the ranks at Hertha BSC amid big expectations in Germany before moving to RB Leipzig in 2020 but was unable to really leave his mark on either club ahead of finally arriving in Friuli in the summer of 2021.
Under the guidance of Udine manager Andrea Sottil last season, Samardzić posted a career-high 5 league goals while quickly becoming a vital cog in the wheel for the club while helping them to their joint-highest finish in Serie A in over a decade.
Should Samardzić complete his move to the San Siro, he would join Kristjan Asllani, Yann Aurel Bisseck, Davide Frattesi, Francesco Acerbi, Juan Cuadrado, Marcus Thuram, and Raffaele Di Gennaro as new arrivals in Lombardy.
