Joško Gvardiol was subject to big interest from Chelsea last summer.
The Blues made a strong push to sign him but failed to reach an agreement with RB Leipzig.
The 21-year-old is again enjoying an impressive campaign in Germany and also had a great World Cup.
The defender has now been speaking about how close he came to making the switch to the Premier League…
Gvardiol: “In the end I really struggled with that decision but we didn’t make an agreement”

Gvardiol revealed that he was really keen to make the switch to west London.
However, no agreement was found between Leipzig and the Blues.
Gvardiol told the Times: “My agent called me and said that Chelsea is extremely interested and, of course, you definitely think about a serious offer from a huge club like Chelsea.
“Leipzig said they didn’t want to sell me. In the end I really struggled with that decision but we didn’t make an agreement.
“It is what it is. I am here and I am fine with this because my idea had been to stay here.
“One season was not enough. This is my second season, even one more season would be great but we will see.”
