Former Chelsea loanee and Portuguese star forward João Felix could be on his way to the unemployment line with immediate effect after deciding to cancel his contract with Spanish giants Atlético Madrid.

The 23-year-old former Portuguese wonderkid and SL Benfica academy graduate has been effectively ostracized from the senior team under Diego Simeone at Cívitas Metropolitano after failing to secure a full move to Chelsea this summer on the back of his future in the Spanish capital remaining up in the air even before this summer.

Now, according to an update provided by Football Transfers’ Jacque Talbot per information from Spanish outlet La Sexta, the pathway forward for Félix is now clear.

But where Félix will end up remains the question, however. At current, a player of his perceived ability and potential should be securing a move to a big in any of Europe’s top five leagues, but the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and AC Milan are already stocked in forward areas.

Serie A giants behemoth Juventus could be one possible avenue, however, as the possibility of Dušan Vlahović departing Turin looms in the final weeks of the summer window, with Juve being recently reported as trying to manufacture a swap deal to secure Belgian international Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.

Should Félix move ahead with his seeing his contract canceled, he could ultimately end up without a paddle if his wage demands are seen as too exorbitant, unless the Roshn Saudi League decides to pounce.
