Barcelona president Joan Laporta has, on Friday, provided an update on Lionel Messi’s potential return to the club.
Veteran attacker Messi’s plans beyond the summer have of course long remained unclear, ahead of the expiration of his two-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG, for their part, are known to be keen to lock Messi down for at least one more season, as the Argentine continues to prove himself one of world football’s finest, even at the age of 35.
And yet, speculation has continued to run rampant, regarding the World Cup winner’s potential arrival at a whole host of clubs across world football.

One such outfit persistently tipped as a potential destination, meanwhile, comes in the form of none other than Messi’s former employers, Barcelona.
Amid an ongoing rebuild under the watch of Xavi Hernandez at the Camp Nou, it has been widely suggested that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner could reunite with the Blaugrana, as he prepares to enter the twilight years of his career.
And Barcelona’s president left the door very much open to such a prospect, even going as far as to confirm his intention to “improve the current relationship between Messi and Barça.”
