According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Jurgen Klopp has pushed Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella to the top of his midfield wishlist and is also targeting Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.
In terms of a potential fee, Inter Milan have slapped a €50m price tag on the Italy star ahead of a potential summer move.
Barella is said to also be a target for Chelsea as the Blues look for a long-term partner for Enzo Fernandez in the middle of the park. This is unlikely to be too much of an issue for Liverpool, though, as neither Chelsea nor the Reds are expected to be playing Champions League football this season.
And at present, Chelsea will have no European football in 2022/23, whilst Liverpool could still secure a Europa Conference League or Europa League place.
Barella has a contract at the San Siro until 2026, but Inter Milan’s financial situation means they are under more pressure to sell.
The 26-year-old joined Inter Milan in 2020 after a loan spell with the Nerazzurri and has gone on to make 173 appearances, scoring 17 and assisting 42 in the process.
