As 101 covered on Thursday night, Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Moises Caicedo from Brighton.

The deal is expected to be a British transfer record, surpassing the £105m Arsenal will pay West Ham for Declan Rice.

In his press conference on Friday, Jurgen Klopp confirmed the deal is set to go through: “I got told I can confirm the Moisés Caicedo deal is agreed with the club.

“With the player, we will have to see. Medical today? I can’t tell you, I don’t know. We give it a go and the club have really stretched it to be honest”.

After signing Caicedo for such a high sum, Klopp’s comments on Manchester United signing Paul Pogba in 2016 have resurfaced: “The day that this is football, then I’m not in a job anymore,” Klopp said on Pogba’s transfer back in 2016.

Now, the German has been asked about these comments on Friday and said: “Honestly, everything has changed. Do I like it? No. But did I realise I was wrong? Yes, definitely. That’s the way it goes.”
