Barcelona midfielder Gavi has ruled out leaving Camp Nou this summer in the wake of winning his first La Liga title with the club.
The 18-year-old, who broke through into the first team last season, made 33 La Liga appearances on Barcelona’s route to success this season, which was crowned with a 4-2 away win at City rivals Espanyol.
His future, however, has been the source of some controversy in recent months. In September, it was announced that the teenage sensation had signed a new deal at Camp Nou, which included 1 billion euro release clause and that would keep him in Catalonia until 2026.

However, La Liga have claimed that the Blaugrana could not afford his salary due to their financial issues, which Javier Tebas has already revealed will see them need to ‘drop spending on wages and transfers from £532m to £399m (€650m to €450m), so it’s a budget of minus £177m (€200m)’.
And, though this decision was initially overturned by a court, La Liga have since appealed and seen their initial plan reinstated, meaning that Gavi’s contract has become invalid.
It led to speculation that a free transfer trhis summer could be on the card, with Liverpool thought to be among those keen on poaching the valuable midfielder for nothing at the end of the season.
“This is the first title here, this is the club of my dreams — it’s Barça”, he explained.
“I hope there will be many more”, he added.
