Leeds United are hopeful of closing a deal for a chief attacking target by Friday evening, according to reports.
The player in question? Joel Piroe.
The name of frontman Piroe, for those who may have missed it, has taken its place centre stage in the headlines at Elland Road across the day to date.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the Leeds brass had moved in decisive fashion, to add the Dutchman to Daniel Farke’s squad.
Piroe, for his part, is fresh off another productive season in The Championship, which saw him notch 19 goals across 43 appearances.

Taking his tally to 49 direct goal contributions since the summer of 2021, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of Leeds pushing hard for his signature.
As per a report from the reliable Phil Hay of The Athletic:
‘Leeds United will look to finalise the signing of Joel Piroe in the next 24 hours after agreeing a deal with Swansea City for the striker.’
Piroe, for his part, is yet to undergo a medical in Yorkshire, but with Leeds ready to meet the contract demands of the former PSV Eindhoven talent, the transfer is viewed as all but wrapped up.
It now remains to be seen whether or not Piroe will be registered in time to feature in the Whites’ meeting with Championship table-toppers Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon.
Leeds United hoping to get Joel Piroe move over the line in the next 24 hours.
Wary of what happened with Max Aarons but at this stage, move is on course.@TheAthleticFC https://t.co/qvg3d34Fdz
