Manchester City have been linked with a move for RB Leipzig and Croatia centre-back, Josko Gvardiol, for some time now.
However, the transfer saga has dragged on for a while, with the latest update claiming Manchester City had to complete a deal by August 12 or Leipzig would keep Gvardiol for another season.
On top of an early deadline to complete the move, Manchester City are seemingly facing competition from other clubs in the Premier League for Gvardiol’s signature.
A report from Spanish outlet Fichajes claims that the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea have all submitted offers to try and hijack the move
Liverpool and Chelsea do not have Champions League football at their disposal and that could prove to be problematic while trying to win this race.
The two Manchester clubs will be able to offer Gvardiol Champions League football and they could be attractive destinations for him. But whether Gvardiol can be sold on Erik ten Hag’s project over a side who just won the treble remains to be seen.
