The player in question is Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat, who has a number of suitors this summer.
According to Giacomo Lacobellis, Fiorentina are keen on receiving at least €30m for Amrabat, who impressed the world with his competitive nature during the World Cup. But Liverpool and Newcastle United are currently the only two teams willing to meet that asking price.
However, recent reports have claimed that Amrabat wants to sign for a La Liga side, with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid heavily linked in recent months.
Amrabat starred at the 2022 World Cup as Morocco defied expectations to reach the semi-finals.
He also played a key role in Fiorentina reaching the final of the Europa Conference League last month, which they lost to West Ham, and has featured a total of 107 times for the Serie A outfit.
Liverpool have already signed Alexis Mac Alister from Brighton this summer but it is expected Jurgen Klopp’s team will sign at least one more midfielder ahead of the 2023/24 season following an exodus of now free agents, including James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita.
