The player in question is Uruguayan midfielder, Federico Valverde.
According to Spanish outlet El Nacional, Liverpool are ‘obsessed’ with Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde and are prepared to make an astonishing €80 million (£69 million) bid for him.
Valverde would be a superb addition to Liverpool’s midfield and after Madrid signed Jude Bellingham and extended Luka Modric’s contract for another reason, the Spanish side have a plethora of midfield options for 2023/24 – meaning they could be more open to letting Valverde leave.
Should Liverpool indeed sign Valverde from Real Madrid, he would be their third-most expensive signing behind Virgil van Dijk and Darwin Nunez.
However, Valverde comes with a plethora of experience at the highest level and has been playing in a side that dominate the Champions League, including in 2022 when they beat Liverpool in the final.
Valverde remains under contract with Los Blancos until 2027 and scored 12 and assisted seven in 56 games last season, largely operating as a central midfielder or on the right wing.
