Liverpool are interested in Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, it has been reported.
Manchester United were interested in the midfielder in the summer of 2021, but he instead went to Brighton for less than £5m.
Caicedo has since impressed with the Seagulls and was garnering interest from some top sides over the summer.
Liverpool were said to have tabled a £42m bid for Brighton star Moises Caicedo, but were informed that would only buy his boots:
“I think you’d probably get his boots for that, maybe, knowing the chairman! It’s not for me to talk about. It is what it is,” then Brighton boss Graham Potter said.
He added: “It doesn’t surprise me that people are looking at him because he is playing at a fantastic level. As soon as you do research on him you realise he is a top kid, great person, young, playing in the Premier League, has all the attributes to play at the very, very highest level.
Now though, it is being reported that Liverpool are still interested in the South American.
Football Insider report that Liverpool are keeping close tabs on Caicedo, and are plotting to rival Chelsea to land the Ecuador international ahead of next year.
Caicedo speaks out on future
Caicedo spoke out on his future recently, and did not close the door to a Brighton exit:
“Right now I’m very focused on Brighton and the World Cup. I want to have a great World Cup and then we’ll see what happens”, he told Ole.
“I think they are one of the best teams in the world and nobody would turn down an offer from Chelsea or any other club like that. It’d be a dream to be in the best teams in the world and succeed there.”
On Potter specifically, he added that “it made me very sad now that he left for Chelsea, because he helped me a lot and I wanted to continue having him as a manager, but that’s football,”
