First, in an interview with Dutch website Soccer News, transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that Liverpool and Manchester United are the only two teams who are the favourites to sign PSV superstar Cody Gakpo.

Gakpo had a sensational World Cup for the Netherlands and has been one of the most sought-after young forwards in Europe at the moment.

Elsewhere, according to Spanish outlet AS, Liverpool are closely monitoring the growth of Spanish defender Ivan Fresneda. Jurgen Klopp and co. have had to deal with major injuries in their backline and signing Fresneda could solve multiple problems for the German manager.

The Real Valladolid defender has a contract that keeps him at the club until 2025 and currently has a release clause worth €30m. But his release clause would rise to €45m if the player makes 22 appearances for the Spanish outfit.

Finally, according to Spanish outlet Marca, Liverpool are looking to ‘give up’ their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Jude Bellingham after finding a cheaper alternative in Enzo Fernandez.

The Benfica midfielder has been integral in La Albiceleste’s fairytale gallop to the World Cup finals, and has reportedly even agreed a pre-contract with Liverpool.
